We are so excited to share our second video associated with The Unrecorded Songs Project and our upcoming album release July 6th! Here’s “Plain Country Rose” - directed by Shane Fleming and starring me and Charlie Judkins, Ramona Baker, Anton Luparello , and our beloved patron of the arts & Renaissance man extraordinaire Neal Siegal!
The song was composed by Irving and Jack Kaufman, two of our very favorite singers, in 1924 - they were prolific recording artists, but amazingly never recorded this song despite that they were the ones that wrote it!
On this recording you hear:
Andy Stein on violin , Dan Levinson on tenor and C Melody saxophones, Brian Nalepka on bass and backing vocals, Gavin Rice on banjo , and of course, Charlie Judkins on piano and Miss Maybell on vocals and banjolele. Arranged by Gavin Rice in collaboration with Charlie Judkins and Andy Stein. Recorded at BeSharp studio in Astoria, Queens , engineered by Slau Halatyn - who also contributed additional backing vocals!
